On Friday, September 28th, 2018 at the Crowne Plaza in Wyomissing, Ronald L. Bashore will be honored with the 2018 Rev. Dr. Harold A. Henning Spirit Award by Bethany Children’s Home. This award is given annually to an individual to recognize their compassion for developing and empowering others. The award recipient exemplifies a strong-hearted will to provide leadership and growth for their community and Bethany with humility, authenticity and faithfulness.

Ron has not only been a long-time volunteer for Bethany Children’s Home but one of the best community leaders to provide local youth opportunities for growth and healing. As an adult, his compassion for the youth served at Bethany grew and he became one of their biggest advocates ensuring that they all had access to education, health care, childhood experiences, music, art, sports and much more. Through his vision, mentoring and advocacy Ron has engaged the local community and school districts to understand the needs of our youth and how they can best succeed in school and community.

Carl H. Bloss was raised at Bethany Children’s Home and recently celebrated his 80-year anniversary of his entrance to Bethany. For the past 10 years, Carl has dedicated himself to preserving the history of Bethany Children’s home and creating the archives, which include original board minutes, listing of children, formation of the organization but also thousands of photos, collectibles and memorabilia of Bethany’s rich 155 year history. Dedicated to preservation, he has volunteered thousands of hours to Bethany Children’s Home and plays an integral role in connecting families through genealogy.

For his lifelong dedication to Bethany Children’s Home, Carl H. Bloss will be recognized as a 2018 Children’s Award Recipient on Friday, September 28, 2018.

The Bethany Ladies Committee has provided 132 years and countless hours to Bethany Children’s Home. The Ladies Committee has been committed to ensuring that all youth who enter into care receive the best care and opportunities for success. The Ladies have sustained Bethany’s mission of providing a safe, secure and nurturing environment providing each youth opportunities to experience a family like setting.

Bethany is honored to recognize each of the women who are members of the Ladies Committee with the 2018 Children’s Award for their timeless and tireless efforts serving the youth at Bethany.
