Alvernia’s Gibson, Gilbert Earn Player of the Week Honors

Annville, Pa (Sept. 17, 2018) – Sophomore Kyla Gibson and Senior Emily Gilbert were named MAC Players of the Week for their performances from Sept. 10 – Sept. 16, as announced by the MAC Office.

Gibson claimed the offensive award for MAC Commonwealth Women’s Soccer, and Gilbert earned the honors for MAC Women’s Golf.

Gibson led the Golden Wolves to a 1-0-1 week, including a conference-opening win against Lycoming. Gibson had an assist and a goal against Goucher to help lead Alvernia to a 2-2 draw earlier in the week. She tied the game at 1-1 with a goal from a nearly impossible angle. In a 3-0 win over Lycoming to end the week on Sunday, Gibson recorded an assist to extend the Golden Wolves lead and put the match out of reach for the Warriors.

Gilbert shot an 84 on Sunday to finish tied for third place at the East Stroudsburg Invitational, hosted by Division II’s East Stroudsburg University at Glen Brook Golf Club. Gilbert was the top Division III finisher out of 31 total golfers. She also helped led Alvernia to a third-place team finish, which was top amongst the Division III teams.
