ANNVILLE, Pa. – After a valiant week in net, sophomore field hockey goalkeeper Brynne Schoppe earned MAC Commonwealth field hockey defensive player of the week honors that was announced on Oct. 22 by the conference.

Schoppe made 23 saves on 40 shots faced in the Lions two games in the past week. She opened the week by making seven saves in Albright’s 3-0 setback to Alvernia on Wednesday afternoon. Schoppe then stole the show against Stevenson on Saturday afternoon by making a career-high 16 saves on 26 shots faced in the Lions 3-2 overtime win over the Mustangs. Her efforts kept the Lions MAC Commonwealth Tournament hopes alive.

A native of Harleysville, Pa., Schoppe currently holds a 2.13 GAA on the season after taking over starter duties in late September. Schoppe has won five games for the Lions and has posted two shutouts as well on the season. She becomes the first Lions field hockey player this season to win a weekly MAC Commonwealth award.
