Holiday Craft Shows

Now that the holiday season is quickly approaching the topic of giving is always at the forefront. Many people are jam packed on the highway traveling store to store looking for just the right gift to give to a family member or friend that are held close to their heart. But an issue for many is the price tag that is attached to that “perfect gift.”

The first place that people look for their “perfects gifts” to give are malls, department and chain stores, or even on the internet. All the places with the “sales”, commercials, and local ads, but a place that many overlooks are Holiday Craft Shows. Holiday Craft Shows allows you the opportunity to buy a gift that can be homemade and shows thought.

Holiday Craft Shows are a showcase of creative ideas from local vendors either in or near your community. There is a wide range of items that are normally for sale at these events including oils, scents, jewelry, wall hangings, baskets, ornaments, and clothing, among many more.

Many Holiday Craft Shows are being held up and until Christmas in the Berks County area including: Saturday November 17 – Governor Mifflin Middle School 9:00AM – 3:00PM, November 18 – Kutztown Fire Company 9:00AM – 3:00PM, December 1 & 2 – Daniel Boone Middle School 9:00AM – 3:00PM, December 8 – Governor Mifflin Senior High School 9:00AM – 3:00PM, December 15 10:00AM – 9:00PM & December 16 11:00AM – 5:00PM at the Coventry Mall.

The Daniel Boone Optimist Club will be hosting their 37th Annual Holiday Craft Show this year at the Daniel Boone Area Middle School (1845 Weavertown Road Douglassville, PA 19518) both December 1st and 2nd from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM. While some craft shows charge an admission fee, this one does not. This craft show also offers refreshments, free parking, and a Chinese auction. They currently have over one hundred twenty vendors planned to be in attendance for this event offering “quality handcrafted items.”

On December 8th Governor Mifflin Senior High School (101 South Waverly Street Shillington, PA 19607) will be hosting the Governor Mifflin Football Club Craft & Vendor Show from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. They have a ton of crafters and vendors confirmed to be there. They will also be having a Chinese auction, a visit from Santa, free activities for kids, along with serving breakfast and lunch. This is all in support of the football club.

During this time of year, friends gather at craft shows across the county to shop for the holidays and make new connections with others. At some of these events, people can snack while browsing if food is offered and many of these events are normally kid friendly but do watch out for those breakable items!

Craft shows are not just held around this time of year either. Another popular time of year many organizations offer a craft show is in the springtime. Others can offer craft shows all year-round. According to the Leesport Farmers Market’s website, “Our FIVE, year-round craft fairs have over 300 crafters occupying more than 500 spaces!” Their five annual craft fairs are scheduled for 2018-2019 as follows: Saturday November 24 and Sunday November 25, 2018 – Christmas Fair, Saturday April 13 and Sunday April 14, 2019 – Easter Craft Fair, Saturday May 11, 2019 – Spring Craft Fair, Saturday July 13, 2019 – Mid-Summer Craft Fair, Saturday October 12 and Sunday October 13, 2019 – Harvest Craft Fair. Every craft fair goes from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM. They advertise free admission and parking along with many refreshments available.

So, whether you are looking for something to do or have a special gift in mind there are a lot of local vendors at Craft Shows/Fairs eager to help you find that perfect something you may be looking to buy.
