Herbein Announces Promotions

Reading, PA – Herbein + Company, Inc., a certified public accounting and consulting firm headquartered in Reading has announced promotions:

Marybeth C. Olree Promoted to Senior Manager

Marybeth C. Olree, CPA was promoted to Senior Manager in the Accounting and Auditing services group at Herbein + Company, Inc. Marybeth joined the firm in 2012 and works on Herbein’s dedicated nonprofit team providing compliance, audit, and advisory services. Marybeth oversees many of Herbein’s nonprofit clients and directs financial statement audits and single audits. Marybeth is Herbein’s lead in regards to the nonprofit financial reporting changes under recently issued US GAAP guidance. She is a frequent key presenter at the firm client nonprofit seminars, covering hot topics such as nonprofit financial reporting model changes, and Uniform Grant Guidance updates.

Internally, she serves on the firm Accounting and Auditing Technical Committee, which stays up-to-date on technical issues and pronouncements specific to practice areas that impact our clients and employee education. She also serves on the Herbein Hero Committee, and as an instructor for in-house training programs. Marybeth graduated from Villanova University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and a minor in Management Information Systems.  She serves on the Pennsylvania Institute of Public Accountants’ (PICPA) Not-for-Profit Committee, Not-for-Profit Technical Issues Subcommittee, and Not-for-Profit conference planning committee. She was also a recipient of the 2016 PICPA Young Leader Award, this award recognizes members under the age of 40 who demonstrate their commitment to the accounting profession through active PICPA or community volunteer efforts.

Not surprisingly, Marybeth is a strong believer in the importance of community service, and volunteers for multiple local nonprofit organizations, serving as the Board Treasurer for Laney’s Legacy of Hope and on the Finance Committee of Family Promise of Berks County.  She is also an active member of the Greater Reading Chamber of Commerce Women2Women Organization. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband Andrew and their two children, A.J. and Scarlett, traveling, sports, and running. Photo attached.

Cory D. Eisenhofer Promoted to Manager

Cory D. Eisenhofer, CPA was promoted to Manager at Herbein + Company, Inc. (Reading, PA office). He joined Herbein in 2009 upon graduating from Kutztown University.  As a Manager in the Accounting and Auditing Department, he is responsible for overseeing multiple firm audit engagements. Cory works with a variety of clients including dairies, cooperatives, nonprofits, and manufacturing entities.

Justine N. Bauer Promoted to Manager

Justine N. Bauer, CPA was promoted to Manager at Herbein + Company, Inc. (Reading, PA Office). She began her career as an intern in the tax department at Herbein in January 2008. Upon graduation from Alvernia University in 2010, she joined the firm’s audit department. Justine works with a variety of clients in the nonprofit and government industries. She has experience providing all levels of service for her clients, including compilations, reviews, audits, and tax services.  She leads the review and preparation of the Form 990 and state tax filings for nonprofit clients. As a manager, Justine’s responsibilities include all aspects of the engagement, including planning, preparation and review of audit procedures and financial statements. Justine presents at various internal trainings within the firm, focusing on the development of younger staff and updates to the Form 990.

Kaitlyn E. Schappell Promoted to Manager

Kaitlyn E. Schappell, CPA was promoted to Manager at Herbein + Company, Inc. (Reading, PA office). She began her career at Herbein + Company, Inc. in 2016 after gaining 3 years’ experience at a “Big 8” accounting firm and 3 years at a large regional firm. After graduating from Albright College in 2010, Kaitlyn relocated to Pennsylvania from New Jersey. Kaitlyn is currently a Manager in the Accounting and Auditing Department. Kaitlyn helps service clients in the employee benefit plan, transportation logistics and manufacturing and distribution industries. Kaitlyn has brought her knowledge of sampling methodology and sits on the software implementation committee to help the firm use resources efficiently and effectively.
