PA Commission on Crime & Delinquency Seeking Grant Reviewers

Dec 05, 2018

The Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) is currently seeking peer reviewers for grant applications received, or to be received, from school entities in Pennsylvania requesting funding in support of a wide range of enhancements designed to improve the overall safety and security of schools and school communities. There will be two separate scoring groups for these competitive grant applications. One group will focus on school safety and security, including both physical safety and behavioral health concerns; the other will focus on strategies employed to reduce overall community violence.

PCCD is seeking reviewers with significant experience in relevant areas such as:

• School administration
• School policy making
• School policing/school resource officers
• School safety training
• Emergency management
• Emergency planning
• School Safety and Security Assessment
• Environmental Safety Design
• School-based Mental Health and/or Intellectual Disability Services
• Community collaborative boards focusing on prevention, such as “Communities That Care”
• Community organization and mobilization focusing on violence reduction
• Mentoring
• Community Policing
• Trauma Informed Care
• Behavioral Health
• Community and School grant review and scoring

Reviewers will be required to participate in a Webinar that will provide information and guidance on the funding solicitation and scoring criteria. All reviewing and scoring will be done remotely with a follow-up conference call/scoring reconciliation meeting to discuss the reviews, share information, and identify those applications to be recommended for funding. No in-person meeting is required.

Reviewers will be paid $50/hour and will be required to submit a time and effort report and invoice to PCCD documenting the actual hours worked per application. PCCD will allow a maximum of one hour per application reviewed. To receive payment, selected reviewers must complete reviews of all assigned applications. No additional fee will be paid for mandatory participation in a scoring reconciliation meeting. Application review for both the school safety and security grants and the community violence prevention grants will take place between February 28, 2019 and March 21, 2019. Reviewers should be prepared to review up to 100 applications within the stated three-week review period.

If you are interested in becoming a peer reviewer, please submit an up-to-date resume or curriculum vitae, by December 10, 2018, including a valid e-mail address, to: mailto: [email protected]. Please put either “Peer Reviewer – School Safety and Security” or “Peer Reviewer – Community Violence Prevention” in the subject line. Please indicate in the body of the email, the name, and location, of any Pennsylvania school entity that you currently worked for, or have previously worked for, in any capacity.
