Reading-based theater company presents “Finding Home”

November 29, 2018 — Building on its reputation for creating new and exciting theater that is relevant to the Berks County community, Reading Theater Project has announced its 2019 season, Finding Home, a year dedicated toward stories about community.

The season begins with the annual 5-Minute Fringe Festival at the new Yocum Institute for Arts Education in the Schumo Theatre from Feb. 22 to 24, 2019. On April 6, 2019, Reading Theater Project will host the fourth annual JazzFest Cabaret After Hours Party – a popular night of outrageous entertainment in West Reading at the historic Olympian Ballroom. Throughout the spring and summer, RTP will continue local artistic development with the Play Reading Series, highlighting local writers and developing upcoming productions. To close the 2019 season, Thornton Wilder’s great American play, Our Town, directed by George Hatza, will be performed at the WCR Center for the Arts from Sept. 27 to Oct. 6, 2019.

Auditions for Our Town will be held on Jan. 8 and 9, 2019, from 6:30 to 10 p.m. in Christ Church United Church of Christ (4870 Kutztown Road, Temple, Pa). An inclement weather make-up date is scheduled for Jan. 10, 2019, from 6:30 to 10 p.m.

Those interested in auditioning for the 2019 season should submit their headshot and resume to Christopher David Roché, managing director, via email at [email protected] with their full name and “season auditions” in the subject. Please prepare a one minute, 20th century, American play monologue and 30 seconds of a hymn to be sung a capella. Auditions will also include cold reads from Our Town and improvisation work.

Designers, directors, playwrights, stage managers and others interested in participating during the 2019 season (including the 5-Minute Fringe Festival and Play Reading Series) should submit their information and resume to Christopher David Roché at the above email address with their full name and field in the subject.
