KU’s Tarabocchia Earns Her Stripes, Garners PSAC East Athlete of the Week

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Junior Brianna Tarabocchia of the Kutztown University women’s basketball team has made her mark in just her first month of basketball with KU, her 13-point, 11-rebound effort in a 67-49 win at Pitt-Johnstown over the weekend allowed her to take home Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East Athlete of the Week honors, as announced by the league office Dec. 10.

Tarabocchia, a transfer from NCAA Division I Saint Peter’s University, has made an immediate impact, starting in eight-of-nine games so far this season for the Golden Bears (3-6 overall, 2-1 PSAC), who have now won two straight games.

The Woodcliff Lake, N.J. native posted her second double-double of the year against the Mountain Cats last Saturday, Dec. 8. She shot 5-of-6 from the floor overall, 1-of-2 from three and was 2-for-2 from the free-throw line, while also adding one assist, one steal and one block.

Tarabocchia averages 7.1 points per game and ranks ninth in the PSAC with 7.8 rebounds per game in 27.2 minutes per game.

Kutztown squares off with two more PSAC West Division teams next week as it takes on Mercyhurst on Tuesday, Dec. 18 at 1 p.m., and then Gannon the following day, Wednesday, at 5:30 p.m.
