Reading Musical Foundation Features Finest Student Musicians in Two ‘Artists of Tomorrow’ Concerts

The Reading Musical Foundation will present 33 of its first place winners from its 2018 scholarship auditions in the prestigious Artists of Tomorrow Concert. An annual event, the concert will be held at the WCR Center for the Arts on Sunday, January 6, 2019, and Sunday, January 13, 2019 at 3:00 PM. Musicians are divided between the two concerts based on if they have performed in a previous Artists of Tomorrow Concert or if this is their first event. The accompanist for the concert will be Daniel Immel, an assistant professor at Kutztown University. The Artists of Tomorrow Concerts are free to the public. Free parking will be available in the M&T Bank parking lot at Washington & 5th Streets. Featured below are the students participating at each of the concerts.

RMF will also recognize musicians who have placed in the RMF auditions every year for at least the last three years with the newly created Young Music Makers award. We focused on the three-year consistency due to how RMF age groupings break out in the scholarship program (Grades 1-3, Grades 4-6, Grades 7-9, Grades 10-12). It can be difficult for students to place when they are in the youngest year of the age bracket and auditioning against students with more years of experience. RMF created the Young Music Makers award to recognize this accomplishment. Out of the 112 merit winners from 2018, only 42 will receive this award! The list of students receiving this award for 2018 is also below.

RMF awarded over $193,937 in 2018 in scholarship awards to Berks County musicians. Divided almost evenly between merit (audition-based) and need-sensitive awards, students were able to receive assistance for private lessons, instrument rentals and upgrades, college tuition and summer camp scholarships.
