2019 Lunar New Year Celebrates Chinese Culture in the Year of the Pig

Kutztown University’s Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSA) will host its annual Lunar New Year celebration on Monday, Feb. 11, beginning at 5 p.m. in the multipurpose room of the McFarland Student Union Building. The event is free and open to the public.

The event will feature amazing and talented performers including acrobats, dancers and musicians from the Amazing China group. Experience the Chinese theater art of face changing, a precise technique that has been a closely guarded secret among performers for generations. Master magician Li Ying, who has been entertaining internationally for several years, will also perform traditional Chinese magic.

Free Chinese food will be offered after the performance.

The Lunar New Year occurs every year between January and February. Each year is represented by an animal with 2019 being the year of the pig.

This year’s celebration is sponsored by the Association of Campus Events (ACE), the Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSA), the Commission on Status of Minorities and PSECU.
