Public Housing Waiting Lists to Open on February 19

Reading, PA – Reading Housing Authority (RHA) will open the Public Housing Waiting List on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 for the following categories only:  0-BR apartments for 1-person families and 1-BR apartments for 2-person families who are elderly (age 62+) or who have a disability (18+), located in Rhodes, Eisenhower & Hubert Apartments, Kennedy & Franklin Towers and Hensler Homes, and 2-Bedroom and 5-Bedroom units located in Oakbrook and Glenside Homes.

Applicant families must qualify for the bedroom size (2-BR and 5-BR) based upon an occupancy standard of 1 bedroom per 2 persons, with limited exceptions. (Applications that do not comply with these standards may prevent the application from being considered.)  RHA utilizes a 1-offer policy, which means that eligible individuals are not able to select a particular development but will be offered the first unit for which they meet the criteria.   Beginning February 19, APPLICANTS MAY APPLY ONLINE at www.readingha.org.

Applications will also be available for download/printing at the website, or by calling 610-372-3933 beginning February 19.  Electronic applications must be received by midnight on Monday, February 25.  Paper applications must be returned by first-class mail to:  Reading Housing Authority, 815 Franklin Street, Reading PA 19602.  Only one application per envelope will be accepted.  Applications must be postmarked between February 19 and February 25.  All applications postmarked after February 25 will be destroyed.

Preferences will be given to individuals and families who live, work or attend school in the City of Reading.  RHA reserves the right to apply a lottery-based selection process for applications if the number of applications received exceeds more than two years of predicted unit availability; therefore, all applicants may not be placed upon a waiting list.  Applicants must qualify according to the RHA Admissions & Continued Occupancy Policy.
