Feb 13, 2019

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. — Nationally-ranked Kutztown University wrestling earned its third PSAC Wrestler of the Week award in the last four weeks, Monday, when redshirt junior Chad Haegele was announced as the conference’s most recent recipient.

Haegele pushed his unbeaten streak to 16 matches with a pair of pins over PSAC opponents last week.

The Warrington native needed just 90 seconds to register his first pin of the year against Millersville’s Rob Saum during Tuesday evening’s 33-9 win for the 8th-ranked Golden Bears.

Haegele, one of seven KU wrestlers honored on Senior Night prior to Friday’s 47-0 victory over East Stroudsburg, collected his second fall of the week with a 6:13 pin of the Warriors’ Marquan Payne.

The nation’s 12th-ranked wrestler at 157 lbs. by the NWCA hasn’t dropped a match since Nov. 3. Haegele is 17-1 on the year and owns a 12-0 dual record, having earned KU 48 team points. He represents KU’s third weekly award winner since Jan. 21, joining Connor Rogovich (Jan. 21) and Andrew Dunn Jr. (Jan. 28).
