Middle School Open Houses Planned in Reading School District

The open houses are part of the district’s planned 2019-2020 grade configuration

The Reading School District’s school boundaries are changing for the 2019-20 school year due to a planned grade configuration.

The district currently has four middle schools. However, as a part of the approved 5-8 grade configuration, the district will have five middle school starting next school year. The new configuration will help the district address enrollment, safe schools and the achievement of all students. Benefits will include the opportunity for fewer academic transitions, academic teaming, looping student services, increased parent engagement and relationship building.

Letters were mailed in January 2019 to those families impacted by the grade configuration changes, which include transitioning Reading Intermediate High School into a fifth middle school and renaming the building. Please note, the Special Education Department will contact parents who have a student currently attending a RSD school outside of their neighborhood boundary for special programming to discuss where he/she will attend school next school year.

Parents can also find out which school their child will attend next school year by visiting, clicking the “Find My School” locator map and entering your home address.
