Alvernia’s Lim, Chung, Gilbert Named MAC Players of the Week

Annville, Pa. (Apr. 1, 2019) – Junior JoAnnah Lim, Junior Kyung Chung, and Senior Emily Gilbert were named MAC Players of the Week for their performance during the week of March 25 – March 31.

Lim was named the MAC Commonwealth Player, and Chung was named MAC Commonwealth Men’s Golfer of the Week. Gilbert earned her fourth honor of the season for MAC Women’s Golfer of the Week.

Lim earned her second honor of the season. She helped lead Alvernia to a 4-1-1 week, including MAC Commonwealth sweeps over Stevenson and Messiah. The junior finished the week hitting .667 (10-for-15) and slugging 1.000 with three doubles and a triple. She totaled six RBIs, three runs scored, three stolen bases, and a walk. Lim was a perfect 6-for-6 in a doubleheader sweep of Stevenson, with two RBIs, two runs scored, two stolen bases and a double. In a 1-0-1 split with Immaculata, she went 3-for-6 with two doubles, three RBIs and a run scored. She finished the week going 1-for-3 with an RBI triple in a win over Messiah. She has reached base safely in 12 of her last 13 at-bats.

Chung shot a round of 76 in his Alvernia debut to earn low medalist honors and lead Alvernia to the team victory at the Division II Jefferson University Tri-Match, hosted by the ACE Club. Chung shot a one-under on the front nine with a birdie and eight pars.

Gilbert tied her own school record with a four-over par 76 to lead the Golden Wolves to a second place finish at the Division II Jefferson University Tri-Match, hosted by the ACE Club. She finished second overall, and was the top Division III golfer. Her round included 11 pars and two birdies. She went on an impressive two-under nine hole run that started with a par on the par 4 fourth and finished with a birdie on the par 4 13th.
