Word of the Week

Magenta means a purplish red color.

The magnificent WOW color of magenta is seen in the flowers of azaleas, rhododendrons and hydrangeas.

(It) Magenta – named in honor of the Battle of Magenta in Italy, where the French and Sardinians defeated the Austrians in 1859

(First known use: 1860)

The Word of the Week (WOW) program was inaugurated at the Muhlenberg School District in 2010 and for the past eight years, the school district, local community and beyond have been involved in promoting literacy through the Word of the Week (WOW) vocabulary initiative.
