Apr 17, 2019

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Freshman pitcher Bridget Bailey of the Kutztown University softball team has made an impact during her first season in Maroon and Gold. For her recent success inside the circle last week, Bailey was voted the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East Pitcher of the Week as announced by the league office on April 15.

The Golden Bears (29-14 overall, 6-4 PSAC) went 7-1 last week with sweeps over regional opponents Holy Family, Goldey-Beacom and Jefferson, and then split with West Chester. They have won 12 of their last 13 and 16-of-18.

Bailey finished the week 3-0 with three saves and allowed just one run in 25.2 innings. She struck out 24 batters and gave up just 13 total hits, lowering her ERA to 2.79.

Bailey is second in the PSAC in wins (13) and innings pitched (125.1) and is third in saves (3).

It is the first award for the freshman.

Kutztown’s 29 wins is the most by a PSAC team. It hits the road to take on Shippensburg for two games on Friday, April 19, with game one beginning at 2:30 p.m.
