Word of the week: Vista

Vista means a distant view, especially one seen through some opening or passage.

The vista, through the rows of cherry blossoms in Washington, D.C., is absolutely astounding!

(Latin) videre – to see > (Italian) vista – a view

First used in 1650

The Word of the Week (WOW) program was inaugurated at the Muhlenberg School District in 2010 and for the past eight years, the school district, local community and beyond have been involved in promoting literacy through the Word of the Week (WOW) vocabulary initiative.
