READING, PA. – Karen E. Wang, MD, has joined Berks Community Health Center as Director of Pediatric Services. “We are thrilled to have Dr. Wang coming on board at BCHC,” said BCHC Chief Medical Officer, Mary E. Kelleher, MD. “She brings enormous knowledge and experience with her, along with deep dedication to the community.”
Dr. Wang most recently worked at the Children’s Health Center at Reading Hospital, where, in addition to patient care, she trained and supervised family practice residents and was site director for medical school student clerkships. She is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and also at the Thomas Jefferson University Sydney Kimmel School of Medicine. In 2011, she received the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Education from Jefferson Medical College.
A graduate of the Pennsylvania State University, Dr. Wang received her MD from the Boston University School of Medicine, where she was the recipient of the Stephen R. Preblud Memorial Award from the medical school’s Department of Pediatrics, given for the top pediatric academic performance in her graduating class. Her residency in Pediatrics was completed at the Tufts University-New England Medical Center’s Floating Hospital for Children.
Active in the Berks County community, Dr. Wang was named the March of Dimes Medical Professional of the Year in 2017. In 2007, she was honored with the Active Teacher Award from the American Academy of Family Medicine. She currently serves on the United Way of Berks County Board of Directors, for which she co-chaired the 2018 Reading Hospital Campaign. Board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, she is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Dr. Wang will see patients at Berks Community Health Center’s fourth and newest site at 1110 Rockland Street in Reading.
