Berks LaunchBox invites community to Tinker Tuesdays

by Berks LaunchBox

May 24, 2019

WYOMISSING – The Berks LaunchBox has announced that it will hold a series of open house events dubbed “Tinker Tuesdays” throughout the months of June and July 2019, from 2–7 p.m., with the first scheduled for Tuesday, June 4. The purpose of these events is to give community members an opportunity to stop by and tinker with the tools in the maker space, including multiple 3D printers. In addition, Berks LaunchBox staff members will be available to demonstrate and help visitors to use the technology. These events are free and open to the public.

Attendees who would like to design and print a 3D model are encouraged to check out Tinkercad, the introductory software used to make 3D designs, before visiting the Berks LaunchBox. Visitors can then bring their designs to the event on a thumb drive or the Berks LaunchBox staff can help them to design a model during the event. The community is also welcome to stop by and learn about the technology at the event.

The Berks LaunchBox hopes to ignite the entrepreneurial spirit in the Berks County community. If you have any questions about Tinker Tuesdays at the Berks LaunchBox, contact us at [email protected] or 610-396-6400.

It features a maker space with 3D printers for prototyping, entrepreneurship workshops, co-working space for startups, an Idea TestLab, and Meetups focused on business development and technology. The Berks LaunchBox is funded in part through Invent Penn State, a $30 million Commonwealth-wide initiative to spur economic development launched by Penn State President Eric J. Barron in 2015.
