The County of Berks invites citizens, public agencies and other interested parties to participate in the development of the County’s 2020 Action plan by attending a public hearing on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at 6:00 pm in the 4H conference room, County Agricultural Center, 1238 County Welfare Road, Bern Township.
The purpose of the hearing is to obtain the views and comments of individuals and organizations regarding the overall housing and community development needs of the county, development of proposed activities of the county and a review of the past program performance. The information will be used in preparation of the 2020 Action Plan.
For federal fiscal year 2020, the County expects to receive a minimum of $2 million from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, a minimum of $500,000 from the home investment partnerships (HOME) program, and a minimum of $185,000 from the emergency solutions grant (ESG) program and 72,000 in HOME program income. The county are also eligible to participate in the section 108 Program. Section 108 is the loan guarantee provision of the CDBG Program whereby the County may borrow up to five times its latest CDBG program grant for eligible activities.
All citizens, public agencies and other interested parties may either attend this hearing or phone-in during the hearing to offer their views and comments.
