United Highlights Midfield Depth in 2019 Roster

Pinto, Delgado, and Conte all add offensive spark to Reading in their first games

READING PA, (June 3, 2019) – Reading United has added three offensive players from varying countries to add depth to their 2019 roster: Presbyterian’s Sergio Pinto, Bluefield’s Joao Delgado, and Carelton University’s Dario Conte. All three have already seen time in the early goings of the USL League Two season, combining for 294 minutes of playing time in the first four games.

Pinto is coming off his junior season at Presbyterian College where he recorded 1445 minutes and earned All-Big South Honorable Mention. He collected nine points on the season with three goals and three assists. The forward from Mexico City comes in with a previous NCAA tournament appearance and was named to the Big South Conference All-Freshman Team in 2016. The Mexican-born midfielder was a late-substitution for Reading’s 3-0 victory over FA Euro on May 25th.

Delgado comes in to Reading with a long list of accomplishments from his time at Bluefield College. The midfielder from Portugal finished his senior season with 18 goals and five assists. He was named USC/NCCAA 1st Team All-American, Regional Player of the year, 1st-Team AAC and Mid East All-Region Team. This offensive threat also led the NAIA (nation) in game-winning goals. The Portuguese midfielder has seen time in three games this season, making his mark with three shots in each of his starts.

Conte, a sophomore at Carleton University, comes in hoping to add to Reading’s offense. The forward from Montreal had three goals and five assists during his 2018-19 season with Carleton. He appeared in 14 games and accumulated 33 shots on net. Conte had brief spells playing professional soccer in Canada, seeing time in the NASL with Ottawa Fury’s senior team, and semi-pro minutes with OSU Force in League1 Ontario. Dario has made one start for Reading in their young season, going the distance against Lehigh Valley United in the season opener.

Reading United travels to Long Island for an important road test against the second place challengers. The next Reading United home game will be June 8th against Evergreen FC. $5 tickets are available online at readingunitedac.com/tickets, and will jump to $10 at the gate.
