2nd Friday Celebration to Feature Merchant Specials, Music by Uncle Jake & The 18 Wheel Gang

Shop, dine and stroll Penn Avenue in West Reading, Friday, August 9th during West Reading’s 2nd Friday celebration from 5 – 8pm. 2nd Friday celebrations include merchant specials and extended hours to enjoy all West Reading has to offer. During the months of May – October, musicians entertain the crowds from 6 – 8 pm on the South side of 6th Ave at Penn Ave by Say Cheese. The band performing during August 9th is “Uncle Jake & The 18 Wheel Gang”.

Band members include Brady James (guitar/suitcase), Stove (claw-jo), Brandon Reber (washboard), Lefty Wilson (three-jo), Zak (mandolin), and Mikey (upright bass). The band lists Bill Monroe, Doc Watson, and Mississippi John Hurt as influences. The Port Clinton based group calls their style “Pennsylvanian Jug-less Juggrass”. Further commenting, “we play songs that are traditionally originals, as well as some others that are originally traditionals”.
