Grand Opening to be held on Saturday, August 3

Baseballtown Charities, in collaboration with Reading Housing Authority and Olivet Boys and Girls Club, has worked to refurbish the Oakbrook Park Baseball Field, and will host a Grand Opening on Saturday, August 3rd.

The Oakbrook Park Baseball Field is located at the Oakbrook Homes at 1001 Scott Street, Reading, PA 19611.

Saturday, August 3 will be the Grand Opening Celebration for the new baseball field. The event will feature R-Phils players, R-Phils mascots, free food, dignitaries, and a ceremony at 12 p.m. The event runs from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., and will serve as the start of a new FUN Baseball and Softball training program at the field for children ages 5-9.

“Youth programs are a critical element of RHA’s longstanding history of providing services that support health, community, and self-sufficiency,” said Stacey Keppen, Executive Director of Reading Housing Authority. “We couldn’t be more excited about this partnership, and are sincerely grateful to our friends at Olivets, the Fightin Phils, and all the partners who have committed to this initiative.”

Attendees at the Grand Opening can enjoy a free hot dog, thanks to Berks Packing, Savage 61, and White Star Tours and Travel. Guests can also enjoy a free water and juice, thanks to United Towing, Savage 61, and White Star Tours and Travel.

The FUN Baseball and Softball Training program will be implemented for Olivet Boys and Girls Club members by Baseballtown Charities Rip It for Life, and by Rip It Batting Cages and Baseball & Softball Skills Training Instructors.
