Magical Hands Knitting Warmth and Spreading Joy

The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members.” – Coretta Scott King

Mary Lou Hutchinson has been crocheting scarves for our annual Care and Share Holiday party for the last 5 years. In preparation for this year’s event (where each child gets to pick a scarf off a tree), she has already completed 91 scarves. Each one is knitted with love and no two are alike. Just like the children that attend the special celebration…each child is special and unique…they all deserve to feel valued and to have a warm scarf. Thank you Mary Lou for your labor of love.

Mary Lou is one of hundreds of volunteers that make our Holiday Gift Project possible…whether you provide a gift for a child or help with this incredible party hosted annually by West Lawn United Methodist Church…setting up for the party, baking cookies, serving food or helping to make hundreds of gingerbread houses the night before, you are helping to make a difference in a child’s life. Most important, you are showing the families that our community cares about them.
