Clay on Main welcomes “Tuesday Night Ladies Auxiliary Exhibition”

Clay on Main in Oley welcomes a four artist exhibition, opening on September 22nd and running through October 27th.  The “Tuesday Night Ladies Auxiliary Exhibition” features artists Lisa Fox, Rhona Candeloro, Amy Sutryn, and JoAnn Morrell and includes oil, polymer, fiber and mixed media.  The artists have been invited by JoAnn Morrell, organizer and curator of the show.  An opening reception is being held on September 22nd, from 4-6pm in the Clay on Main galleries.  The artists will be present, and will perform a few original songs during the opening.

This talented group of artists have been meeting once a week during the last decade as a way of supporting each other in their musical growth.  “Music is what brought us together”, says Morrell.  Fox’s work elicits a “call and response” between her inner and outer worlds, drawing from nature and her love of invention.  Morrell works in fiber and mixed media.  She uses recycled textiles and practices slow design, a growing response to overconsumption.  Candeloro and Sutryn focus on color in their work;  Candeloro in glowing oils, Sutryn in imaginative, polymer clay worlds.  This show includes both two and three dimensional works.  Amy Nabut, a member of the group but not an exhibiting artist, will join the four to play percussion during the musical performance.

Visit Clay on Main during regular gallery hours, found on our website, or by appointment. Opening receptions are open to the public, anyone interested in attending can park in the Church lot next door on Main St.  Clay on Main is a non-profit artists’ cooperative, located at 313 Main St in the historic village of Oley. The studio offers art instruction and gallery space for local artists, as well as live music and more.  Clay on Main houses a complete clay studio, a stained and fused glass studio, a live performance venue, and a yoga room, in addition to the co-op and gallery.  Clay on Main is open to the public on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10-2, Wednesdays from 12-5, and Sundays from 1-4.
