Free to a Great Home: Fee Free Cat Adoption Event at the Humane Society of Berks County

Reading, PA – The Humane Society of Berks County has had an influx of cats looking for homes and in response will hold their “Free to a Great Home – Fee Free Cat Adoption Event” at the shelter Friday, September 27 through Sunday, October 6, 2019.

Adopters wishing to save the life of any cats regardless of age, may do so during the Free to Great Home- Fee Free Cat Adoption Event.  All potential adopters will be required to go through the regular adoption screening process.  Once the adopter is approved, the adoption fee is waived.  The potential adopter will need to have an animal carrier with, or one can be purchased at the Humane Society of Berks County for $6.00 plus tax.

All adopted cats will be spayed/neutered, received vaccinations, microchipped, 2 lb. of Science Diet Pet Food, and will come with Humane Pennsylvania’s (30) Thirty-Day Adoption Health Supplement.

Leann Quire, Director of Shelter Operations stated “As summer comes to an end and we enter fall, there is generally a second wave of cat and kitten surrenders.  Our intake numbers generally go up and adoptions can start to slow.  We want to bring attention to all the amazing cats and kittens we currently have available for adoption during this time of year, and the importance of adoption to help make room for other cats in need.”

This free adoption event provides families with the ability to welcome a new furry friend into their home without needing to pay the standard adoption fee. Throughout the event, families can view, select, and meet-and-greet with any adoptable cats they choose.

Adoption Hours:  Monday and Friday 10 AM – 6:30 PM Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday 10 AM – 4:30 PM
