As one of our distinguished auctioneers so kindly puts it, “We aren’t selling you things. We are asking you to make a contribution to support BCTV, and in exchange you are getting a valuable item of your choosing.”

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.

Our fundraiser auction is a multifaceted transaction of generosity, all in the name of community media. Hundreds of businesses and individuals donate wonderful items to be sold to bidders during our Octoberfest auction. Then hundreds MORE individuals and businesses make their supporting pledges in the way of bids. The winning bidders receive the items, and BCTV garners the fundraising support that we need to continue our service to Berks County.

The Octoberfest auction is our largest fundraiser each year, and it makes your community media possible. We can’t do it without you. Here are the details for the 27th Annual Octoberfest Auction:

The auction catalog is available for online bidding and perusing, 24-7. New items are added each day! Visit the catalog here. You can also access the catalog and online bidding by clicking on the Octoberfest logo on our website at More details on pick up times and dates, etc. are also available at this link. Shipping is only available on gift certificates, and we do ask that you pick up and pay for your items before the end of October.

During the live auction closing each evening, you can also bid by phone! Volunteers will be standing by to take your bids, the phone number will be available next week and will be updated here.

PLUS: Each night we will take a few minutes and ask for pledges by phone – these generous donations are being matched again this year by a contribution from our Board of Directors!

Kickoff Social: Friday, October 11, 5-7PM.

Join us in the Roessner Hall Atrium (corner of 13th and Rockland Streets on the Albright College campus). $10 at the door, cash or check. Includes hors d’oeuvres, beer/wine, soft drinks, coffee, dessert, and special live auction of a handful of premium items that are not available during the full auction! Also, preview items from our catalog that will be selling all week long! Meet our staff, volunteers, and friends that make the auction possible.

Octoberfest Auction: Evenings starting at 6PM Monday, October 14-Friday, October 18.

A fun, fundraising, (and sometimes even funny!) event each evening on BCTV. Our hosts and auctioneers take us through a portion of the catalog each night, selling each item, and if we can be honest – they really are quite entertaining, too! Watch along, bid along, and help us meet our goal.

We will continue to accept donations through Wednesday, October 16th. You can access the printable donation form here and contact us via email to set up a drop off or pick up. Gift certificates, trips, experiences, gift baskets, food and drinks, jewelry, art, and more – its the dealer’s choice, and you can be creative.

We loosely theme each evening, although there are surprises each night. Our good friend and auctioneer Bill Howze will be with us each evening, joined by his professional colleagues George Kummerer , Brett Oslon, and Phil Wesel throughout the week. Your hosts and ‘themes’ for each evening are as follows:

Monday Funday with host Carol Toomey.

Home & Family (Tuesday) with hosts Bernadette Berrios and Kendra Cook.

Sports & Outdoors (Wednesday) with hosts Bob Entler and Mike Feltenberger.

Arts & Antiques (Thursday) with hosts Kay Bennecoff & Kim Stramara of the Reading Berks Guild of Craftsmen.

Dining & Entertainment (Friday) with hosts Dave Kline and Tim Joyce.

A HUGE thank you to event Title Sponsor Tower Health, the Octoberfest Committee, and to all of our volunteers!

We need your support!

Your contribution makes community media possible.

A donation of any size to your nonprofit media organization supports the future of media access in our community - the things you love, and the places you care about, by the people you know.
