The board of the Foundation for the Reading Pagoda and the management of 830WEEU are proud to announce the inaugural WEEU Oktoberfest at the Pagoda this Friday, Oct. 4, from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the iconic city landmark.
Both 830AM early daily talk/call-in shows, Morning with Mike and Feedback will broadcast live from the Pagoda that morning. The live broadcasts begin at 6 a.m. and conclude at 1:00pm.
The highlight of the Oktoberfest is a free concert on the Pagoda grounds by the world reknown Alex Meixner from noon to 1 p.m. Meixner, always a favorite performer at the annual Liederkranz Oktoberfest, will preview his show set for that evening at the Liederkranz.
Just before the Meixner concert and running through it will be Root Beer Float Competition. The floats will be created by “celebrity soda jerks” and will be for sale in special Reading Pagoda mugs. Come on out and see who makes the best floats.
Food will be available for purchase at the Pagoda Happy Cat Café and the Pagoda Skyline Inc. Gift Shop will also be open. Other vendors will also be on hand for the event.
The Foundation is partnering with event sponsors 830WEEU and the Reading Liederkranz for this Oktoberfest salute. Other event sponsors include Bob Lowe, president and owner of 830WEEU, the City of Reading, the Reading Soda Works, and the Mount Penn Preserve.
