KUTZTOWN, PA – Kutztown University’s Department of Criminal Justice is hosting speaker Anthony Wright at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 29, in Schaeffer Auditorium on the Kutztown campus. Wright comes to Kutztown to share the story of his wrongful conviction and the 25-year fight to clear his name and regain his freedom. A powerful, local success story for the Innocence Project, Wright’s presentation is a considerable opportunity for those interested in criminal justice, law and law enforcement.
Wright is a Philadelphia native and already a father when he was wrongfully convicted in 1993. In 2013, the Innocence Project found DNA did not link Wright to the crime and by 2016, a retrial set him free. He now shares his story and encourages support for the Innocence Project when he is not enjoying time with his family.
The Innocence Project, founded in 1992, is a nonprofit legal organization that is committed to exonerating wrongly convicted people through the use of DNA testing. They are also dedicated to reforming the criminal justice system to prevent future injustice. In their ongoing fight for justice, Wright continues to work with the Innocence Project to exonerate other wrongfully convicted individuals.
