Annual “Holiday Lights at Gring’s Mill” is sure to peak your senses

Park staff will soon be busy setting up for our annual “Holiday Lights at Gring’s Mill” program that runs the month of December.  Starting Thursday, December 5th park visitors can walk around the beautiful grounds of Gring’s Mill park, to view our spectacular light display highlighting the historic buildings and landscaping around the park.  “Holiday Lights at Gring’s Mill” will be open Thursdays through Sundays, December 5th to December 29th, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.

After enjoying the walk-through light display, visitors can warm up in the barn by the fireplace listening to live music each night from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.  Kids can visit with Santa in the lower level of the barn next to our snack bar; and kids of all ages will love visiting our model train display in the former generation station building on the bridge.  Here is a full list of the live entertainment scheduled for “Holiday Lights at Gring’s Mill”:

Visit with real Reindeer from Spruce Run Farm https://sprucerunfarm.com/ on Saturdays, December 7th and 14th.  Watch the artists of Sculpted Ice Works http://www.sculptediceworks.com/index.html in action on Thursdays, December 12th and 19th.

Kids and Families will enjoy the free Holiday Workshops with crafts and entertainment on Sundays, December 8th and 15th from 1-4:00 pm.  While kids make seasonal decorations, they can enjoy a holiday movie on December 8th; while Grammy-nominee Roy Owen entertains kids on December 15th with his ‘Music & Good Time Family Fun’ on December 15th.

The Berks County Parks and Recreation Department invites you to come out to Gring’s Mill Park for our annual Holiday Lights program!  This year’s theme is “A Wintery Woodland Christmas!”  The park will be closed and dark, Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and holidays.  Gring’s Mill park will close at 4:30 pm to our daytime visitors for the month of December and reopen at 5:45 pm.  A $5 per car parking donation is requested at the park entrance.  For more information on this event or any of the performances, please contact Becky Richards at 610-374-2944 x2611 or at [email protected].
