Groves, Beamesderfer Selected for NFHCA Senior Game

Gilbert, Ariz. (Oct. 16, 2019) – Seniors Erica Groves and Emma Beamesderfer were named to the Victory Sports Tours/NFHCA Division III Senior Game, as announced by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.

Groves and Beamesderfer are the sixth and seventh players, respectively, to be selected for the Senior Game. Most recently, Margaret Wentzel, Alvernia’s current assistant coach, was named to the Senior Game in 2016. Erin Solley represented Alvernia back in 2012, and Sam Landis was a representative in 2011. Becky Maccione and Megan Novogratz, members of Alvernia’s Hall of Fame, were selected in 2006.

Groves, a midfelder, was one of 52 field players selected for the senior game. Groves is a three-time MAC Commonwealth All-Conference honoree, and earned NFHCA All-Region honors her junior year. This season, Groves has started in all 15 games for the Golden Wolves. She has one goal and four assists on the season.

Beamesderfer was one of two goalkeepers named as an alternate, and is one of ten goalkeepers selected overall. She is a two-time first team All-MAC Commonwealth selection. This season, Beamesderfer has played every minute of Alvernia’s 15 games. She currently has a 1.62 goals against average with 82 saves and three shutouts.

The NFHCA Division III Senior Game will take place in conjunction with the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship at Spooky Nook Sports Complex in Manheim, Pa. at 5:00 PM on Saturday, November 23rd following the completion of the Division III semifinal games.

The Golden Wolves continue their 2019 season on Saturday, Oct. 19 when they host Hood College at 2:00 PM.
