Wolf Administration Hosts

Pittsburgh, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS) on October 8th hosted the first of two day-long technology innovation conferences for disability service providers showcasing advancements and opportunities in service delivery for people with disabilities.

“Pennsylvania’s systems of care for people with disabilities are robust and provide opportunities for people with intellectual and physical disabilities to achieve an everyday life in their homes and communities,” said DHS Secretary Teresa Miller. “But we will not settle for robust or good enough; we are committed to encouraging and facilitating opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation to keep growing and strengthening service options and opportunities for independence for Pennsylvanians with disabilities.”

Hosted by DHS’ Office of Developmental Programs, the conference featured presentations from public and private sector leaders in innovation in services for people with disabilities and advocates in the disability community. Sessions included learning about transportation needs for people with intellectual disabilities and autism, how providers can incorporate more tech-based options and services, specific assistive technologies being used by providers in Pennsylvania and around the country, and Ohio’s experience growing remote support services.
