The Business of Fashion Takes Center Stage During Albright Forum

Reading, PA – Albright College’s 8th Annual Business of Fashion Forum will be held Nov. 2, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the college’s Roessner Hall. Tickets are $10. In addition, a free and open question and answer session will follow at 2 p.m., in the Center for the Arts/Klein Lecture Hall, with fashion expert Maryanne Grisz, led by Albright alumnus R. Scott French ’87.

Albright’s Business of Fashion Forum offers a day of informative sessions and networking with industry leaders and Albright alumni working in fashion design, merchandising and marketing. This year’s session speakers include Loreli Carro and Meredith McCue of Chicco USA; Katherine Scheese ’85, founder of From The Heart consignment shop (Sinking Spring, Pa.); Erin Kelley ’09; Target, Michelle Dovale ’13, Macy’s I.N.C.; Emily Watts, and Sally Congdon-Martin of Stitch Fix (Mohnton, Pa.); and Sean Hieter, senior vice president at Corneliani USA.

A free and open to the public keynote session will feature Maryanne Grisz, a senior executive with expertise in the fashion and film industries. Grisz currently serves as president and CEO for the Fashion Group International (FGI), a global, non-profit association of fashion industry professionals, directing more than 20 events a year, creating partnerships and directing strategy for 23 international regions. She is the winner of several awards, and has appeared in numerous festivals and fashion industry event screenings.

Alumnus R. Scott French ’87 will lead the keynote question and answer session. French holds wide experience in the fashion industry, ranging from retail and wholesale to design and production. He is an active member of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), and a New York runway regular in his capacity as co-founder and editor-in- chief of TheFashionList.com. French has appeared on Bravo, NBC, Fox News, Style and TLC, and has designed under his own label since the late 1980s. His work has been published in seven books including “IMPACT: 50 Years of the CFDA.”
