Grants available for professional energy audit, renewable energy training programs

READING, PA  – Grants are available for certified energy audit providers to conduct 20 audits in Pennsylvania and for organizations to run training programs related to the installation and maintenance of renewable energy systems.

Applications for both projects will be accepted until November 18. Regarding the energy audit program:

Completing an energy audit is an important first step toward reducing kilowatt hours and improving operating costs for an existing building. This program will provide a grant of up to $50,000 per territory to a professional firm to conduct at least 10 energy audits within the Met-Ed service territory and at least 10 energy audits within the Penelec service territory over an 18-month period. Maps of those territories are available at the links previously referenced.

Regarding the workforce development/training program:

One $25,000 grant is available for organizations within the territory served by the Met-Ed electric company to support training programs for Pennsylvania residents to learn how to professionally install and maintain renewable energy systems.
