Thomas, Gilida Named Alvernia Players of the Week

Reading, Pa. (Nov. 25, 2019) – Men’s Basketball sophomore Justin Thomas and Women’s Ice Hockey freshman Olivia Gilida were named Alvernia Players of the Week for their performance during the week of November 18 – November 24.

Justin Thomas posted a career high 32 points to lead Alvernia to an 85-65 win over Penn College on Thursday night. Thomas was 11-for-19 on the night, including a 6-for-11 performance from beyond the arc. Thomas also added six rebounds, three steals, and one assist.

Olivia Gilida was Alvernia’s lone goal-score on Friday night in a 3-1 setback against Stevenson University. Gilida tied it up at 1-1 with her goal in the fourth minute of the third period.

Men’s Basketball returns to the court on Tuesday for a road game against Penn State Berks. Women’s Ice Hockey has off for Thanksgiving and will return to the ice for the Alvernia Keystone Holiday Classic on December 6th and 7th at Body Zone.
