More Than 30 Hours Of Local Music As Part Of “Holiday Happiness” On BCTV

Dec 02, 2019

Reading, PA – The Happiness Podcast, part of Dave Kline Productions, will present “Holiday Happiness,” on Christmas Eve through Christmas Day on BCTV cable and online channels. Featuring music by local ensembles and musicians, as well as stories and interviews about the holiday season, this vast collection includes vintage and new recordings from various ensembles and cultural traditions. This project was made possible thanks for financial and administrative support from Dave Kline Productions, BCTV, and Reading Musical Foundation.

“I like to think of this production like Christmas ornaments,” said Dave Kline. “Like ornaments, each year we take these recordings off the shelf to be played and enjoyed. The show presents a feel-good Yuletide gift; a reminder of the rich diversity and culture in Reading and Berks County as celebrated by our neighbors, co-workers, friends, and colleagues from all walks of life in the community. Representing hundreds of hours of recording, editing and production, Holiday Happiness is sure to help folks create holiday magic and memories as it showcases many of the amazingly gifted and talented musicians and orchestras in our region.”

The program will be played on BCTV (check local listings for exact channel) and livestreamed on www.bctv.org beginning Christmas Eve at 5:00 PM through midnight on Christmas Day. The 32-hour production was hand-curated by Dave Kline, and features holiday music from ensembles like the Reading Symphony Youth Orchestra, Ringgold Band, and Trading Four, as well as individual musicians including Mike Anderson and Dave Cullen. The sounds of the Holiday Happiness production will be accompanied by seasonal images and animations for festive visual appeal thanks to BCTV technicians.

Dave Kline, a local musician and media entrepreneur, has been involved as trustee and volunteer of Reading Musical Foundation for more than 25 years. He has transformed his love for folk music into opportunities for new generations of folk musicians, primarily through the David L. Kline Family Mountain Folk Scholarship of RMF, which provides awards for lessons and new instruments for deserving musicians of all ages.
