Peter Mayer returns for fifth holiday concert presented by Crime Alert Berks County

Singer-songwriter and world-class guitarist Peter Mayer and his Peter Mayer Group returns to Berks County this Saturday, Dec. 21, as Crime Alert Berks County presents – for the fifth consecutive year — his annual Stars and Promises Concert.

This year’s theme is “Echoes of the Season – A 20th Anniversary Celebration.” The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Inn at Reading, Wyomissing.

Mission BBQ, Wyomissing, is the major concert sponsor.

Tickets remain available for the concert, both in advance and at the door.

The concert ticket cost is $30. For concert tickets, contact [email protected] or Scott Light at A to Z Vacuum at 610-374-4888. Reserve tickets can also be purchased on line at

The Inn is offering a special dinner buffet, priced at $25 per person, starting at 5:15 p.m., preceding the concert. Tickets for the concert and the dinner are sold separately. Buffet dinner reservations are required and can be placed by calling 610-371-4469 or emailing [email protected].

“We are very pleased to again present Peter Mayer’s special salute to the music and spirit of the season,” said Rick Periandi, president of Crime Alert Berks County. “We’re hoping to see many folks returning for what has become a Christmastime tradition and we surely hope to see some new faces as well.

Denny Lorah, a longtime Crime Alert Berks board member, is again coordinating the concert which is being sponsored, in part, by the Berks County Parrot Head Club of which he is president.

The BCPHC has contributed more than $140,000 to Crime Alert Berks from the Stars and Promises Christmas shows over the years. The club was established Oct. 1, 2002 and has, since then, raised more than $739,538 for various Berks County charities and non-profits.

Mayer’s signature seasonal style includes unique arrangements of traditional standards and original holiday music set amidst a beautiful stage production with spectacular lighting and sound.”

“Echoes of the Season” features a world-class seven-piece band including violin, woodwinds, pipes, keyboard, guitar, bass, and percussion. The group will highlight 20 years of melodies that have become a staple of Mayer’s tours over the past two decades.

For the past 28 years, Mayer has performed and recorded with Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band and performed with such renowned artists as Paul McCartney, James Taylor, Dave Mathews, Paul Simon, and Ringo Starr.

Saturday’s concert marks the last leg of Mayer’s 20th anniversary holiday concert tour that has had performances in more than a dozen cities across the nation.
