West Reading, PA. – More than 35 Reading Hospital No Shave November participants raised $14,348 dollars, surpassing the original goal of $10,000, during the inaugural fundraising event. The month-long event helped raise awareness for men’s health, McGlinn Cancer Institute, and show support for the many patients undergoing cancer treatment and experiencing hair loss. The money raised is supporting men’s health awareness programs and the Patient Assistance Fund at McGlinn Cancer Institute.

At the end of the month employees voted Andrew Addison, RN for best beard/mustache. Carl Seidl, Vice President, raised the most money with a total $3,075. Other top earners include William M. Jennings, Reading Hospital President and CEO, Robert McMurtrie, DO, Chief, Section of Interventional Pain Management, Cameron Martin, Director of Development, Reading Hospital Foundation.

To participate in the event individuals were asked to pledge $100 and were encouraged to seek additional support from their family and friends. Dan Rodriguez, IT, was recognized for receiving a total of 63 donations, the most during the challenge.

“It was an honor to participate with my colleagues in No Shave November to support those battling cancer,” said Mr. Jennings. “These donations will help fund projects, programs, and services for the patients at McGlinn Cancer Institute.”
