Gilida, Beaven Sweep MAC Women’s Ice Hockey Weekly Awards

Annville, Pa. (Jan. 6, 2020) – Women’s Ice Hockey freshmen Olivia Gilida and Julia Beaven swept the MAC Women’s Ice Hockey Player of the Week awards for their performances from December 16 – January 5.

Gilida scored two goals for the Golden Wolves in a 4-1 win over Wilkes University on Sunday. The win was the first MAC win for Alvernia in program history. Gilida scored the game-winning goal in the second period, and then added Alvernia’s final goal of the game on a power-play goal with eight minutes remaining in the third period.

Beaven was a force in net for Alvernia, stopping 35 of the 36 shots she was in the 4-1 win over the Colonels. The only goal she allowed came on a second-period power play.
