Hovel, Rodenhaber Named Alvernia Players of the Week

Reading, Pa. (Jan. 13, 2020) – Alvernia Women’s Ice Hockey freshman Isabelle Hovel and Wrestling sophomore Palmer Rodenhaber were named Alvernia Players of the Week for their performances during the week of January 6th – January 12th.

Isabelle Hovel earns her first Alvernia Player of the Week honor after recording 49 saves in a 2-0 win over Post University on Saturday. The 2-0 win was Alvernia’s first shutout in program history. Hovel also made 47 saves for the Golden Wolves in a 7-2 setback on Monday at Cortland.

Palmer Rodenhaber earns his third Alvernia Player of the Week honor after going 3-0 with three pins in the heavyweight position on Saturday at the Ursinus North/South Duals. Palmer recorded a pin in 3:13 against Rhode Island College, a pin in 1:48 against WPI, and recorded another first period pin against Camden County.

Women’s Ice Hockey continues on the road on Saturday at William Smith College, and Wrestling heads to the MAC Championships on Saturday, January 18 at Lycoming College.
