Withdrawal of Lawsuit Filed against City Charter Board

from City of Reading

Jan 22, 2020

On the afternoon of January 21, 2020, a Praecipe was filed with the Court, withdrawing the City’s lawsuit against the City Charter Board. This suit was initiated in December 2019 by the former administration.

Working together, Mayor Moran and City Council decided to take a new direction by working jointly with the Charter Board to find solutions reducing unnecessary costs to taxpayers rather than continue with a potentially lengthy and expensive lawsuit. Mayor Moran and City Council are confident that working together they can find solutions that are in compliance with the 2002 referendum approved by the electorate to create the Charter Board.
