Reading Physicians Receive Board Certification in Pediatric Hospitalist Medicine

West Reading, PA. – Three Pediatric Hospitalists from Reading Hospital – Tower Health are among the first ever physicians to receive Board Certification in Pediatric Hospitalist Medicine (PHM) from The American Board of Pediatrics. Linda Bloom, MD, Chief, Section of Pediatric Hospitalist, Corina Sandru, MD, and Ilana Price, MD passed the first PHM board certification exam offered in November 2019.

To be eligible to sit for the exam individuals were required to be certified by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP), meet the training requirements for Pediatric Hospital Medicine set by the ABP, and have an active medical license in the United States or Canada.

“Everyone at Reading Hospital – Tower Health is extremely proud of Drs. Bloom, Price, and Sandru,” said William M. Jennings, Reading Hospital President and CEO. “This prestigious certification reflects their clinical expertise and ongoing commitment to our patients. It will, unquestionably, benefit the children and families in our communities.”

Pediatric Hospitalist Medicine was officially recognized for subspecialty certification by the American Board of Medical Specialties in 2016. Training and assessment criteria and certification award are managed by the ABP.

“It is a privilege to be among the first Board-Certified Pediatric Hospitalists,” said Dr. Bloom. “Dr. Price and Dr. Sandru have been wonderful colleagues, and close friends, for many years. In addition to the joy of being able to celebrate together, having all three of us pass the test on the first try was not only a personal success, but one for the entire Pediatric Hospitalist section at Reading Hospital.”
