Student Video Contest Boasts 100 Percent Participation in Berks and Schuylkill County Middle Schools for Second Year
READING, Pa. – The Manufacturers Resource Center (MRC) is proud to announce sponsors for the “What’s So Cool About Manufacturing?” (WSCM) student video contest. In its fourth year, regional sponsorship has helped the program continue to expand and for its second year in a row, all 36 middle schools in Berks and Schuylkill Counties will participate. Across Pennsylvania, the WSCM program is taking place in 16 regions in the 2019-2020 school year.
Created by Manufacturers Resource Center (MRC), the student video contest “What’s So Cool About Manufacturing?” (WSCM) gives students in Berks and Schuylkill Counties the opportunity to network with local manufacturers as well as gain new perspectives, record their experiences and present them in an educational and “cool” way through documentary video production. The contest was created to generate excitement that draws students towards considering manufacturing career paths to create a 21st century workforce. The contests are supported regionally by their sponsors and partners.
“This is a successful middle school career awareness program across the state of Pennsylvania, and the country, which validates its design, to raise awareness about manufacturing career opportunities and technology among students,” said Rich Hobbs, President & CEO at MRC “To have total participation from the middle schools in the region shows the commitment of everyone involved.”
