Outreach program will double to serve over 150 students weekly each term.

READING, PA – – GoggleWorks Center for the Arts (GoggleWorks), one of the country’s largest interactive art centers, announced today that it has reached a new personal best for its After School Arts Program (ASAP) serving the local community in downtown Reading, PA. In its spring term the program has expanded to five days a week and will serve over 150 students from five different school districts. GoggleWorks leaders project that this growth will mean that in 2020 the program, now in its 15th year, will double its previous annual enrollment.

“It’s exciting to see so much engagement from youth in our community. The growth in the classroom has provided our kids with a great environment to develop meaningful relationships while making art,” said Alex Gordon, Youth and Teen Programs Manager.

ASAP offers students, ages 7-17, residing in the Reading School District and beyond, the opportunity to explore, experiment, and develop their creativity through hands-on, collaborative projects at no cost to their families. The program is anchored by a focus on amplifying young voices from our community and promoting social equity.

“GoggleWorks is passionate about transforming lives through unique interactions with art. ASAP allows us to see our mission in action on a daily basis, and make a tangible impact on our local community,” said Tim Compton, Artistic Director.

Taught by professional artists and educators within the safe, dynamic studio environments at GoggleWorks, ASAP runs three terms per year (fall, spring I, and spring II) daily from 3:30-5:30pm. The term culminates in the family arts night event where families are able to see student works made throughout the term and celebrate the growth of each individual. Applications are now being accepted for the Spring II term.
