Reading-Berks Association of Realtors appoints Baker Shurr as new Executive

WYOMISSING, PA – The Reading-Berks Association of REALTORS® (R-BAR) Board of Directors recently appointed Brittney Baker Shurr as the new Association Executive.

Brittney is no stranger to the real estate industry or Berks county. Prior to becoming the R-BAR Association Executive, she spent five years with the Pennsylvania Association of Realtors® as a Political Field Representative. In that capacity, Baker Shurr managed the municipal, state, and federal legislative advocacy efforts of five local REALTOR® associations. Her work spanned 11 counties in south central Pennsylvania and Maryland. Brittney expanded REALTOR® involvement in local community development projects, secured grant funding, and initiated public-private partnership opportunities. She was also responsible for increasing contributions and awareness of the REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC).

As the Association Executive for the Reading-Berks Association of REALTORS®, Baker Shurr aims to improve member services, expand member benefits and sponsorship opportunities, and increase awareness of the REALTOR® brand. She intends to build upon R-BAR’s aggressive grassroots advocacy program; protecting private property rights and access to homeownership in Berks County.   In addition, her plans include strengthening association relationships with other community-based organizations, local non-profits, stakeholders, and civic leaders.

Brittney’s leadership will implement the associations new 2020-2022 Strategic Plan that will usher the association into it’s 100th Anniversary in 2022! The new strategic plan aims to inform, engage, grow, and advocate for our members and our communities supporting the American dream of homeownership and increasing neighborhood revitalization.

The Reading-Berks Association of REALTORS® exists to serve its members as local real estate industry professionals, promoting high standards through the REALTOR® code of Ethics. R-BAR advocates for private property rights and strives to improve the quality of life in our communities. As the professional trade association for licensed real estate practitioners, Reading-Berks Association of Realtors® is the Voice for Real Estate in Berks County. Membership in the organization is voluntary and consists of both residential and commercial agents and brokers as well as industry affiliated business partners. R-BAR’s membership currently consists of approximately 950+ real estate licensees. The REALTOR® trademark is only used by members of the National Association of REALTORS®.

Baker Shurr will also serve as Executive Director of R-BAR Care, the association’s 501(c)(3) benevolent fund founded to help members who encounter financial hardships beyond their control.

Born and raised in the city of Reading, Brittney Baker Shurr graduated from Exeter Township Senior Highschool. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania and serves on the board of directors for the Reading-branch YMCA. Brittney currently resides in Muhlenberg Township with husband, Brandon and their daughter, Brielle.
