Mar 11, 2020

Longtime Executive Director, Kathy Kolb, Prepares to Retire in April Welcomes Incoming Executive Director, Michele Reinert, to BCSS on March 2, 2020

Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks (BCSS) is pleased to confirm plans for an upcoming leadership shift this spring. Longtime Executive Director, Kathy Kolb, previously announced her pending retirement in 2020 and worked on a succession plan and search process with the organization’s Board of Directors. “The BCSS Board’s Executive Committee is excited to announce the appointment of Michele M. Reinert, CFRE as incoming Executive Director starting March 2, 2020. Michele brings an impressive background in both business and the non-profit sector to benefit BCSS, with special expertise in marketing and development. Michele and Kathy will overlap for approximately one month to ensure a smooth transition.” said Lisa Spencer, board president.

“Serving as Executive Director since 2006, Kathy has brought growth to BCSS and we are grateful for her tireless efforts and dedication to the organization,” added board vice president, Debbie Lessie. Ms. Kolb has overseen an expansion of the agency’s staff and volunteer base as well as the scope and scale of free & confidential services during her tenure. Today, BCSS has many signature programs and events, such as Comfort Bags, Pink Power Nights, Newly Diagnosed and Young Survivor Support Groups, El Poder del Rosado Latina outreach, and the annual Pink Passion for Fashion Brunch. Kathy and her colleagues are proud of these as well as newer initiatives including Counseling Assistance and Yoga classes for Survivors.

Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks County is a volunteer driven non-profit that provides hope, information and emotional support to every person affected by breast cancer. It is the area’s only agency focused on breast cancer issues specifically. BCSS celebrated 25 years of service to the community in 2019.
