Shellhammer Dirt Track will be celebrating it’s 45th year of racing under the Cordier Family leadership.

The name change from Shellhammer’s Speedway to Shellhammer Dirt Track took effect January 17th and a very positive schedule has been put in place for their Wingless Wednesday and Saturday Heat events.

Work currently being done around all aspects of the speedway will put the high-banked 1/8th mile clay oval into the upper echelon of small car tracks around the United States.Dave Cordier,Jr and his dedicated staff have begun an all out assault to make Shellhammer Dirt Track a safer, well lit and more enjoyable night for the fans and race teams.

Lighting around the oval will be vastly improved with LED lights being readied to be mounted on new light poles.Added seating has been added in the general admission area as well as more bleachers in both the north and south pits.A new fiber optic sound system has been singled out to improve all aspects of the entire track’s PA system.

A new concession stand is being worked on with some added items looking to be added to an already outstanding menu at incredibly low prices.Track safety light switches have been moved from the scoring tower to the starters stand giving the starter complete control of on track activities.

With the new track name a new website was created: www.shellhammerdirttrack.com. Pit space rentals have seen an increase of 40% for Wingless Wednesday and a 20% increase for their Saturday Heat program.Payouts for all classes will be increased based on car counts in the Wingless 125’s,Wingless 270’s,Wingless 600’s,All Star Slingshot,Junior Slingshot and for the first time the Stage 1 Modifieds will be a part of the Wingless Wednesday programs with an every other week appearance on the schedule.

Shellhammer Dirt Track made the decision to run every Wednesday in 2020 after Action Track USA started their season with 7 Sundays of racing. They altered their plans for 2020 but that is not halting the enthusiasm for the race teams and fans to make Shellhammer Dirt Track their regular Wednesday night stop for small car racing.

Shellhammer Dirt Track will be open for weekly racing once Governor Wolf lifts the lockdown restrictions for COVID-19.For more track info please check out Shellhammer Dirt Track on Facebook.
