We have been truly humbled by the outpouring of support from the community during this pandemic crisis. In just over a month, our way of life has completely changed, and we have witnessed heartbreaking effects on our community. People who never thought they would struggle with hunger now find themselves asking for assistance for the first time. None of us could have imagined the scale of the response which is required to feed our neighbors, but we are meeting this demand, thanks to you.
Meeting this demand means we are distributing more food to our partner agencies than ever before. Local food assistance programs continue to see a dramatic surge in attendance. As demand grows, we are increasing our food orders and are paying more than we did just a few months ago.
Over a recent two week period, Helping Harvest spent over $250,000 on food for our hungry neighbors.
To ease the burden on neighborhood pantries, and help us serve more families, agencies such as Olivet Boys & Girls Club have offered their locations as additional food distribution sites. Local businesses have stepped in to help us tackle the daunting task of distributing up to 340,000 pounds of food per week.
We can’t continue to meet this challenge without you. Your donation lets local families and seniors know that they are not alone during this time of unprecedented crisis.
Thank you for helping us fight hunger in Berks and Schuylkill Counties
