Downtown Train Mural Restored to Former Glory

By Reading Downtown Improvement District

Jun 01, 2020
Last winter, our Ambassador team had discovered the Reading Company locomotive 2102 mural on the side of 334 Penn Street had been vandalized with graffiti. R.D.I.D. executive director Charles Broad was part of the project team that chose the mural in 2015 and he researched records and was able to contact Edward Williams the mural artist.
Williams agreed to restore the mural and apply an anti-graffiti coating. Restoration work was delayed by winter weather and temperatures. We are happy to let you know that Williams has completed the restoration in the past two weeks. We encourage you to admire this mural the next time you enjoy a visit to downtown.
