Coach Tyrone Nesby and Friends to Hold Peaceful Stand on Penn Street Bridge

Call to action for students and members of Greater Reading community to stand together and raise awareness of the need to address systemic racism through systematic change in Berks County

Reading, PA – Coach Tyrone Nesby, boys basketball coach at Muhlenberg High School has called on students and members of the Greater Reading community of Berks County to come together for a peaceful stand to be held on the Penn Street Bridge on Monday June 15 starting at noon. Participants are being asked to make signs and show their support through peace and solidarity to raise awareness and support the Black Lives Matter movement.

Those interested in participating are asked to arrive at 11:00am. Prepared remarks from community leaders will precede the peaceful stand. Parking will be made available at the RACC Parking Garage at Washington and Front Street behind the Reading IMAX Theater. Participants are asked to gather in the student parking lot across from parking garage under the bridge. Participants are asked to be respectful and adhere to social distancing best practices.

“We all have a role to play in raising awareness of the systemic racism in American,” said Coach Nesby. “We cannot grow as a community until we can acknowledge there is a problem. For all lives to matter we must acknowledge that Black Lives Matter.”
